Before founding Switzer | Oney, Mr. Oney was a prosecutor for five years, serving as the First Assistant District Attorney for the 31st Judicial District Attorney’s Office. Mr. Oney worked closely with law enforcement to prosecute all level of felony cases.
Mr. Oney’s time as a prosecutor gave him considerable experience in the courtroom. Mr. Oney has handled a number of probation hearings, bond hearings, and motions to suppress. Mr. Oney has also tried all level of felony cases to a jury, including murder, aggravated sexual assault, drug cases, and DWIs.
In addition to his time in the courtroom, Mr. Oney has spent a significant amount of time working on criminal appeals. Mr. Oney has successfully argued a number of appeals both in the 7th Court of Appeals and the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.
Mr. Oney received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Texas Tech University in 2003. He attended Texas Tech University School of Law where he received his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 2006.
